5 October 2024 Writing Retreat

Saturday 5 October 10am - 5pm

A day to write.

A day to be near woods and water and get the words flowing.

If you've got an itch to play with words and sink into the discovery, adventure and sanctuary that brings, this is for you.

If you've got a writing project on the go (Book? Memoir? Poetry? Wordspill prompts? Course or programme? A backlog of blog ideas?) and time just keeps slipping through your fingers, this is for you.

If you know that being in nature and with like-minded people will boost your creativity and sense of being-well, this is for you.

It's seven hours of writing/play/replenishment supported by like-minded people. A combination of some reflective writing time together (facilitated by me), and free time on your own projects and relaxation. An ebb and flow of gathering and time to yourself throughout the day. 

Time and space to be looked after and to write. It will be glorious.

Coffee and teas flowing. Cake, of course.

And a delicious, fresh lunch all included (I'll make sure dietary requirements are catered for).

Let's sit in the woods, listen to the water, eat cake, and write.

***important notes on the venue: it is beautiful! The watchwords are 'rustic charm', which means you need to be aware of a few things***

1. it's not accessible by public transport, and there is a five minute flat walk from the car park 

2. there's often no wifi or phone signal at the mill, though there usually is at the car park, so bring the info/resources you need

3. the chairs are wooden - bring a cushion if you like!

4. there are composting toilets; they don't smell but I wanted you to be aware there's no flush - there is sawdust :)

5. It's set in woodland next to the River Derwent. The grounds are public access, but we will have the mill building to ourselves
